Termly Values

2025/2026

We have had a little bit of a change with our Termly Values for the coming years- they are still the same values, but they will be focused on in a different order throughout the 2-years as we have now linked them to our Learning Powers. The Ethos Group worked together to link the Learning Powers to our Termly Values and the reasons they chose what they did are outlined below.

Autumn 2025 Betty.png

Compassion and Trust link to Betty the Butterfly who continuously improves. If you love something, you will work hard to continuously improve it. Because we think of compassion as loving, to love someone means that you trust them and so we linked compassion and trust together. We also chose the colour red for this term.

Spring 2026 Harriet.png

Our Spring term focus will be on Humility and Service as these link well with Harriet the Hermit Crab who teaches us to be creative. If you want to be creative then you also need to be humble, recognising when you need help from others to complete your ideas and knowing that others might be better at some things that you. You can also serve other people with your creative ideas when you need help from others to complete your ideas and knowing that others might be better at some things that you. You can also serve other people with your creative ideas. Being creative is represented by the colour orange so that will be the colour for this term.

Summer 2026 Albert.png

We chose Justice, Peace and Perseverence as our summer term values. We didn't want to separate these three values as they link together so well and we felt that they link brillianty with Albert the Armadillo who teaches us to be resilient. Yellow is the colour of hope and resilient  people are always hopeful so the colour for this term is yellow.

Autumn 2026 Edgar.png

This terms focus came out of the colour chosen: green. Green is a calm colour; Edgar the Elephant teaches us that we need to concentrate and to do that we need to be calm. We felt that green links really well with the value of Creation as we are fortunate to live in a green and furtile area. Whilst out in nature, we noticed that we feel calmer and therefore can concentrate better. We also linked being thankful to this term as we recognise the importance of being thankful for this wonderful world that we live in.

Spring 2027 Annie and Arnold.png

This term is all about Friendship and Koinonia (community) as they link very clearly with Annie and Arnold the Ants who teach us to be co-operative.  The focus is all about teamwork and loyalty, which are represented by the colour blue.

Summer 2027 Charlie.png

Our final term in our 2-year cycle is all about Reverence and Forgiveness. We chose these because they can be represented by the colour purple, which is often thought of as a royal colour so links very well with reverence: many people revere the God they believe in or royalty. Purple also represents mystery and if you want to solve a mystery, you need to be curious, like Charlie the Chimp. Being curious means we might sometimes frustrate people by asking too many questions, and we are bound to make mistakes along the way as we try to solve these mysteries, so we also felt that forgiveness linked well with this term.

This term, the Christian values are Creation and Reverence

The memory verse is:

Memory Verse: Revelation 4:11 “Our Lord and God, you deserve to receive glory, honour and power because you created everything.”

The classes begin each term by discussing these values and completing some work linked to each for their class reflective corners. This term, we have linked the work done by the children to our Spiritual Development aides of 'Windows, Mirrors, Doors'. We looked at what makes us go OW or WOW in the world, how it makes us feel or what it means to each of us and finally what action we are going to take as a result of this.

Some songs we have been singing are:

Thanks and Praise https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ES0S-BkMnXM

Makanaka https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hA9KdHkjHVI

Creator God https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GM4IVZuljEI

TRUST AND FORGIVENESS PRAYERS

Each term, the classes also write prayers that link to the termly values and things that are in the news at that moment. These prayers are placed in prayer pockets or on the Reflective Corner displays and are chosen from for end of the day prayers. Here are some examples of the prayers the children have written:

Dear God,

Thank you for people we trust and if we sin, we pray that people will forgive us.

In your name we praye these things,

Amen

Dear God,

Thank you for everything we have today!

Please help us to know who to trust.

Please let people forgive what they have done in the past.

Please be kind to people around us.

Amen

Dear God,

Please make sure we can all count on someone to help us when we fail but make sure we always carry on, even when times are tough.

I hope we all know who to trust and who will help us during these tough times.

Thank you Lord

Amen
