Our School Day
At Saughall All Saints C of E Primary School, we want every child to feel happy, safe and ready to learn. Our school day provides a balance of learning, play, social time and opportunities to grow together.
Start and End of the School Day
Our school day begins at 8.50 am for all children.
The school gates and Key Stage doors open at 8.40 am, allowing children to enter school, go to their classrooms and get ready for the day ahead. All children should be in school and ready for registration at 8.50 am.
The school day finishes at:
Reception (Foundation Stage): 3.10 pm
Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2: 3.15 pm
Morning Playtime
All children enjoy a morning break at 10.45 am. Playtime gives children the opportunity to enjoy some fresh air, exercise, play with their friends and return to their learning refreshed and ready to concentrate.
Lunchtime
Lunchtime is an important part of our day, giving children time to enjoy their meals, socialise with friends and develop independence.
Reception: 11.45 am – 1.00 pm
Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2: 12.00 pm – 1.00 pm
Afternoon Playtime
Reception and Key Stage 1 children have a flexible afternoon playtime when appropriate for their age, needs and learning.
Key Stage 2 children do not routinely have a separate afternoon playtime, although opportunities for movement and active breaks may be incorporated into the school day where appropriate.
Collective Worship and Assembly
Our assemblies take place from 9.00 am to 9.15 am. These are opportunities for our school family to come together, reflect on our Christian vision, explore our values, celebrate achievements and think about how we can put our school motto, Love, Learn and Grow Together, into practice.
Dropping Off and Collecting Your Child
At the beginning and end of the school day, we encourage parents and carers to bring their children to, and collect them from, the appropriate Key Stage door. A member of staff will be there to welcome children in the morning and help ensure that the day gets off to a positive start. Staff are also available to receive brief messages or concerns from parents and carers.
If you would like to speak to your child's class teacher, please contact the School Office or speak to a member of staff at the relevant Key Stage door to arrange a convenient time.
Keeping every child safe is our priority. If your usual collection arrangements change, for example, if you are running late or someone different will be collecting your child, please inform the school as soon as possible. This helps us avoid confusion or unnecessary worry and ensures that children are handed over safely to an authorised adult.
Getting to and From School
Where possible, walking to school is a great choice! Walking helps children stay active, supports their health and wellbeing, reduces traffic around the school and helps us care for our local environment.
We also have mini-pods available for storing bicycles and scooters, giving families another active travel option.
If you need to travel by car, please park considerately and safely. Please do not block residents' driveways, entrances or access points, even for a short time. Being thoughtful towards our neighbours helps keep everyone safe and maintains positive relationships with our local community.
Thank you for helping us make the start and end of every school day safe, happy and welcoming for our whole school family.
